Saturday The 17th, Spin Classes Start, Bike Maintenance, More Framed Fat Bikes!

This Saturday the 17th we will start our spin classes for the year.  We will begin at 10:00a.m. and go until 11:00a.m..  This first session will be field test to determine where you are fitness wise so that work outs can be tailored to you.  Plan on arriving ten early to get changed and set up your bike.  Just like the bike classes come through back side doors out of the parking lot because the front door may still be locked.

Bike maintenance classes this week will be all about disc brakes.  We will start with mechanical disc brake identification, installation, pad wear ect. and then move into hydraulic disc brakes.  If we don't finish with hydraulic systems we will push back the next class and continue on next week until we are finished.

We will have two shipments of Framed Minnesota 2.0 models in various sizes arriving this week.  Bikes that have not been spoken for include two 16" Minnesota 2.0, two 18" Minnesota, and one 20" Minnesota 2.0.  They should start arriving mid week and we should have all that are available on the floor by Saturday.  Any questions give a call to 801-394-7700, of shoot an e-mail to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. This Saturday, February 2nd we will be having the bicycle maintenance class as well as both spin classes.  Bicycle maintenance will be covering disc brakes.  We will discuss different types of brakes, fluids used in different systems, pad replacement, pad material composition, and then we will make adjustments on both hydraulic disk brakes and on mechanically(cable actuated) disk brake systems.

The first spin class will take place at 10:00a.m. and there are still 2 spots available as of this moment, so if you want in call or send an e-mail and we will put you on the list.  The second session starting at 11:30a.m. still has 7 spots available, call or e-mail if you would like to be put in this class as well.  Remember to show up 10 minutes early to get set up.  I'll tell you what though this warm weather has me itching to get out, spring is definitely on the way.

Spin Deck Open During The Week!

It occurred to me yesterday with such warm weather outside that we have a beautiful spin area, but that we only really use it for two classes every Saturday.  I also had the thought that weekends may be bad for some individuals who would like to spin indoors but have schedule conflicts.  Based on these two points Skyline Cycle is opening up our stationary trainer deck during the week every day for all those interested in using the stationary trainers we have. This will allow you to spin on your own, schedule a spinning session for you and friends, or follow your own training preferences on our machines. We open at 10:00a.m. and will take sessions up until 5:00p.m. because we close at 6:00. Call us at (801)394-7700 or send and email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and let us know youre coming so we can make sure to have open trainers and you'll be good to go. We will be charging $5 per usage(one hour). We have Kinetic Road Machines and the power computers to go with them. The Kinetics are great stationary trainers and training with wattage is at present the most efficient and effective way to train.

Saturday January 12th, Spin Class and Bike Maintenance Classes

We've been back a couple days and after all the cleaning we're pretty confident it smells less like dust and moth balls in this place.  Thanks for letting us take a little time to clean and take a little break.

This Saturday the 12th of January we have a couple of thing going on.  Our spin classes are starting with a base fitness level test.  The first class with be from 10:00a.m.-11:00a.m.. The only thing that is a complication is that the first is full for this Saturday.  In light of this fact it has been decided that we are offering another class at 11:30a.m.-12:30p.m., we have a total of eight spots per class and there are still 7 openings as of this moment.  If you are interested call or send and e-mail as quick as you can because we expect this class will fill as well.  Cost per class is $5.00.

We also have bike maintenance this Saturday.  This class is a continuation of derailleur adjustment focusing on the front derailleur.  After I have finished the discussion on front derailleurs we will review rear derailleur adjustment which we went over before the holidays.  So if you missed last time and still want to learn about rear derailleur adjustment you have a second chance.  Bike maintenance class begins at 9:00a.m. and ends at 10:00a.m. come through the side door located on the north east side of the building.  Just a side note too I have had to adjust the calendar a little so the class schedule has changed.
