Bike Class Saturday February The 13th, Wheels, Wheels, Wheels!

This Saturday the 13th we are going to be discussing wheels.  How a wheel works, determining spoke length, replacement of a spoke and the basics of how to true a wheel.  We will begin at 9:00a.m. and will go until around 10:00a.m..  Remember to come through the side doors of the building as the front door will be locked.  See you all there.

Bike Class! Hubs, Headsets, Bottom Brackets, Cranks

We will discuss hubs headsets, bottom brackets, cranks today. We will go over installation, removal, adjustment and repair of all the previously listed. Wear cloths that you don't care to much about because we will have hubs out to adjust if you would like the experience.   Class begins at 9:00a.m. and will end around 10:00a.m.  Come through the double doors located on the North East side of the building directly out of the parking lot as the front door will be locked.

This will be a repeat of the first basic maintenance class taught in December for all those that may have missed it. Today we will cover a description of all the components and how a bicycle works.  We will then discuss how to clean, lube and inspect your bicycle to  keep it running well.  Class will begin at 9:00a.m. and will run for approximately one hour ending at 10:00a.m., plan on arriving a little early and come through the double doors and the North East side of the building.

Saturday The 17th, Spin Classes Start, Bike Maintenance, More Framed Fat Bikes!

This Saturday the 17th we will start our spin classes for the year.  We will begin at 10:00a.m. and go until 11:00a.m..  This first session will be field test to determine where you are fitness wise so that work outs can be tailored to you.  Plan on arriving ten early to get changed and set up your bike.  Just like the bike classes come through back side doors out of the parking lot because the front door may still be locked.

Bike maintenance classes this week will be all about disc brakes.  We will start with mechanical disc brake identification, installation, pad wear ect. and then move into hydraulic disc brakes.  If we don't finish with hydraulic systems we will push back the next class and continue on next week until we are finished.

We will have two shipments of Framed Minnesota 2.0 models in various sizes arriving this week.  Bikes that have not been spoken for include two 16" Minnesota 2.0, two 18" Minnesota, and one 20" Minnesota 2.0.  They should start arriving mid week and we should have all that are available on the floor by Saturday.  Any questions give a call to 801-394-7700, of shoot an e-mail to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Bike Class Start Saturday, Framed Fat Bikes, Fat Bike Day Saturday!!

There's a lot going on this weekend.  Starting this Saturday December 6th at 9:00a.m. we will begin our annual bicycle maintenance series from 9:00.m.-10:00a.m..  As usual come through the double doors on the North/East side of the building located towards the back of the parking lot.  This weeks subject is basic maintenance, for a complete description check out the calendar feature at skylinecyclery.com

We have Framed fat bikes that will be built and on the floor by Saturday.  In route are two Minnesota 2.0 in an 18" size, and a Minnesota 3.0 in an 18" as well,  we are excited to have stock back on the floor. The 2.0 models go for $900, and the 3.0 goes for $1100.

The Global Fat Bike Day Utah is this Saturday as well and will begin at 10:00a.m. in the Rainbow Gardens parking lot.  We will have a couple of Mukluk 3.0 models up there for a rent.  We have a medium and a large, the large has a Rockshox Bluto on the front.

Front & Rear Derailleur Class, Spin Class

This Saturday the 8th its all about derailleurs, identification, inspection, removal, installation, and then adjustments.  Regardless of what style of riding you do the theory of adjusting a derailleurs will be the same and what a life saver on long rides.  We will work on both front and rear derailleurs.  Remember to arrive a little early, class starts at 9:00a.m. and will go to around 10:00a.m. come through the double doors on the North East side of the building as the front door will be locked.

Spin Class will be at its regular time of 10:00a.m. and if we have enough for a second class it will be at 11:30a.m..  If you plan on attending make sure to call ahead so we can reserve you a spot.  For either class plan on coming a few early to get set up and warmed up.

Bike Class And Spin Class Saturday February 1st

This Saturday we will continue with spin class and bike maintenance class.  Spin classes will be held at 10:00a.m. and again at 11:30a.m., if you would like a spot in either call ahead or send an email so we can reserve you a spot.

Basic maintenance will be the subject this Saturday. This will be a repeat of the first basic maintenance class taught in December for all those that may have missed it. This Saturday we will cover a description of all the components and how a bicycle works.  We will then discuss how to clean, lube and inspect your bicycle to  keep it running well. We will also remove wheels from the bike, remove a tire from the wheel and identify and patch a hole in the tube. Class will begin at 9:00a.m. and will run for approximately one hour ending at 10:00a.m., plan on arriving a little early and come through the double doors and the North East side of the building.

Bike and Spin Class Saturday the 18th, Even More Fat Bike Rentals!!

Next Saturday the 18th we will continue with both our bike maintenance class and spin class.

Bike maintenance class will begin at 9:00a.m. and  will  discuss both mechanically actuated disk brakes and hydraulic disc brakes.  We will identify, adjust, discuss brake caliper adapters, address different size rotors, and determine what types of fluid are used by different brake manufacturers.  Class will go from 9:00a.m.-10:00a.m..  The double doors on the North East side of the building, directly out of the parking lot as the front door will be locked.

Spin class will be held at 10:00a.m. for the first session and 11:30a.m..  We were under the impression that 10:00a.m. last week was full but we had a few folks that couldn't make it so there are still spots open.  Make sure to call ahead and reserve a spot for either class.

Now to Fat bike rentals.  We have had such a demand for rentals in this category that we have added an additional two bikes to our rental bike fleet to meet the needs of our customers.  We have added a medium Kona Wo to the fleet as well as another large Salsa mukluk.  This brings our total number of bikes to 4 rentals.  Make sure to call ahead and reserve a bike if you want it for a particular date because they are going out a ton.  Cost is $35.00 per day.  Glad to see people are enjoying these bikes.

Saturday March 9th

This Saturday we will be selling all the trainers, mats, and blocks that we used during spin class this season.  Trainers will be going for $250.00 each, the mats will be sold for $30.00, and the front wheel blocks will go for $15.00.  All trainers will be sold on a first come, first serve basis.  We will not be taking money for them  in advance or reserving them.

We had a great season teaching spin class and bicycle maintenance class with all of those that took the opportunity to come and get in better shape for the spring, or those that chose to expand their knowledge of bicycle mechanics.  Unfortunately both the spin class and the free bicycle maintenance classes have come to an end do just to the fact that we have run out of time as we enter into the busy season, thanks to all of you who visited us during the winter, and we look forward to a great season.  Matt

Saturday February 9th, Spin, and Bike Class

This Saturday February 9th we will be having both spin classes and we will be holding the bicycle maintenance class.  The first session of the spin class is full but the second class is still wide open. The first class is at 10:00a.m., the second class will start at 11:30a.m., show up a little early to get your bike set up.  Remember to call ahead and put your name on the list if you are coming to the second class.

Saturday, February 2nd

This Saturday, February 2nd we will be having the bicycle maintenance class as well as both spin classes.  Bicycle maintenance will be covering disc brakes.  We will discuss different types of brakes, fluids used in different systems, pad replacement, pad material composition, and then we will make adjustments on both hydraulic disk brakes and on mechanically(cable actuated) disk brake systems.

The first spin class will take place at 10:00a.m. and there are still 2 spots available as of this moment, so if you want in call or send an e-mail and we will put you on the list.  The second session starting at 11:30a.m. still has 7 spots available, call or e-mail if you would like to be put in this class as well.  Remember to show up 10 minutes early to get set up.  I'll tell you what though this warm weather has me itching to get out, spring is definitely on the way.

Saturday January 12th, Spin Class and Bike Maintenance Classes

We've been back a couple days and after all the cleaning we're pretty confident it smells less like dust and moth balls in this place.  Thanks for letting us take a little time to clean and take a little break.

This Saturday the 12th of January we have a couple of thing going on.  Our spin classes are starting with a base fitness level test.  The first class with be from 10:00a.m.-11:00a.m.. The only thing that is a complication is that the first is full for this Saturday.  In light of this fact it has been decided that we are offering another class at 11:30a.m.-12:30p.m., we have a total of eight spots per class and there are still 7 openings as of this moment.  If you are interested call or send and e-mail as quick as you can because we expect this class will fill as well.  Cost per class is $5.00.

We also have bike maintenance this Saturday.  This class is a continuation of derailleur adjustment focusing on the front derailleur.  After I have finished the discussion on front derailleurs we will review rear derailleur adjustment which we went over before the holidays.  So if you missed last time and still want to learn about rear derailleur adjustment you have a second chance.  Bike maintenance class begins at 9:00a.m. and ends at 10:00a.m. come through the side door located on the north east side of the building.  Just a side note too I have had to adjust the calendar a little so the class schedule has changed.

Holiday Sale, Bicycle Maintenance Start Saturday

Maintenance and Spin Classes

As always thanks for a great Saturday, the maintenance class was great, and spin class turned out was awesome.  Thanks for the support and we will continue next weekend with both.  Maintenance class will once again be at 9:00a.m. and this time we will be talking about rebuilding hubs, bottom brackets, headsets which in general will give a good idea of how to approach bearing systems in general.

Saturday maintenance class 01/28/12

For this session we will be returning to basic maintenance.  We will discuss the proper ways to clean, lubricate, and maintain a bicycle.  Also the tools and the procedures we use on a daily basis.  We will also discuss the proper way to remove a tire, check a tube for a hole, patch a tube and then the correct installation process to get the tube back in the tire and on the rim. Bicycle maintenance/tech classes

Just a quick heads up, our winter mechanic and tech classes are now up and going.  Last week we went over basic cleaning, lubrication, and a tire removal and tube patch.  This Saturday we will continue on with a class centered around the drive train of a bicycle.  We will identify the different components that make up a drive train, discuss operation of each piece, talk about installation and generally answer questions. This class will be in preparation for next weeks class where we will adjust a drive train from the ground up.  Classes start at 9:00a.m. sharp and go for and hour ending at 10:00a.m..
